Kailash Shirohiya, the chairman of Kantipur Media Group, was arrested today at the company’s premises in Thapathali, Kathmandu. A team from the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office, led by SSP Sanuram Bhattarai and SP Rabindra Regmi, apprehended Sirohiya following an investigation into allegations of dual citizenship.
Earlier in the day, the Dhanusha District Court authorized Sirohiya’s arrest to facilitate further investigation into citizenship offenses. The arrest warrant stemmed from a complaint filed by Indrajit Mahato of Sarlahi at the District Police Office, Dhanusha. The complaint accuses Sirohiya of violating the Nepal Citizenship Act, 2063, by allegedly holding multiple citizenships.
Reports indicate that Sirohiya will be transported to Dhanusha today itself.
